Erin Boisrond is the founder and owner of Divergent Forward. She has called the Verde Valley in Arizona home since 2015. She lives there with her husband, a local police officer, and their children; 8 year old twins, Zadie and Zander. In her free time, Erin enjoys running, hiking, and traveling. She is an avid reader and enjoys spending time with her family. Prior to living in Arizona, Erin spent 20 years in Southern Coastal Maine.
Erin’s career passion and inspiration come from a source very close to home. Her younger sister Rebecca has a traumatic brain injury derived shortly after birth. Helping Rebecca navigate the world as an adult with a disability fueled Erin’s desire to help other neurodivergent individuals. Erin says: “Seeing Rebecca strive to reach her true potential and watching my children learn how to support Rebecca is beyond rewarding for me as a parent, sister, and educator.”
In this spirit, Erin feels that one of the most rewarding parts of her career has been the opportunity to work closely with families; witnessing the transformative impact of knowledge, understanding, and a supportive environment. She has worked with many families as they navigate embracing their loved one's neurodivergence by creating a nurturing foundation for growth and self-actualization.
Erin’s extensive career background and expertise in the fields of Special Education and disability resources spans almost 20 years, where she began as a self-contained life-skills teacher at the high school level. Here, her passion for social emotional growth through self and co-regulation was born. With a belief that academic and functional growth occurs when a learner is regulated and has developed skills to cope in frustrating situations, Erin began to see huge improvements in her students.
Following her years as a teacher, Erin entered the administrative field as a special services director. While supporting students with behavioral challenges, Erin saw continued success when combing social emotional learning, executive functioning skill support, and supporting confidence through helping each individual understand their own unique abilities.
After leaving the field of education, Erin gained experience as a program director; building customized supportive programs for neurodivergent adults. Combining social-emotional intelligence with trauma-informed practices (co-regulation and self-management), while also embedding executive functioning skill development into everyday functional tasks, again, Erin saw a trend demonstrating that these techniques support growth and empowerment for adults as well.
Throughout her career, Erin’s work has taken her beyond borders, having privilege of sharing her knowledge and expertise internationally, immersing herself in different cultures and communities. This global perspective has deepened her appreciation for the universal challenges and triumphs experienced by neurodivergent individuals, reinforcing the importance of tailored, culturally sensitive support systems.
At Divergent Forward, Erin seeks to continue to support neurodivergent individuals of all ages. She believes that success comes from empowering the community, not just the individual. It is with great pride and determination that she continues her mission of promoting neurodiversity awareness, breaking down barriers, and creating a more inclusive world where every mind is valued, understood, and given the opportunity to shine.
“The most interesting people you’ll find are ones that don’t fit into your average cardboard box. They’ll make what they need, they’ll make their own boxes.”
